If, on Windows, you have Java installed, but opening "editor.jar" doesn't execute the program, running the program

On Windows, double click "editor.jar" to run the program. On Linux and Solaris, double click "editor" to run the program.

On Mac, simply open the file. On other platforms, unzip the contents of the downloaded file.

The files are approximately 4 MB in size.

Only if you run 64 bit Windows and run 64 bit Java you'll need the amd64 version.
